Happy February! Actually, it's very happy because we are going with robots this month! It's been a while, and we've done nights dedicated to Gundam, Macross, and Evangelion. On February 21st, we're presenting a fun night of great mecha anime that doesn't follow into the big three franchises.
We'll have a mix of great mecha anime, and we have bucket list items like Mamoru Oshii's Patlabor, Giant Robo, and Battle Angel!
Patlabor description from ANN Encyclopedia:
The year is 1999 and Tokyo’s Mobile Police have a new weapon in the war on crime—advanced robots called Labors are used to combat criminals who would use the new technology for illegal means. The suicide of a mysterious man on the massive Babylon Project construction site sets off a cascade of events that may signal the destruction of Tokyo.
Battle Angel description from ANN Encyclopedia;
Doc Ido, a doctor and mechanic who lives and works in the hellish, postapocalyptic "Scrapyard", finds the - miraculously preserved - remains of a female cyborg in a junk heap. After he revives and rebuilds her, the preternaturally strong, amnesiac "Gally" begins to forge a life for herself in a world where every day can bring a fight for life.
In addition to great anime and food, we will also have a prize raffle with some fantastic anime swag to give away! You get a raffle ticket just for coming in; how about that? Keep in mind that Anime MST3K is banned at our events, so please be respectful to your fellow anime fan.
