On Thursday, February 15th, Propeller Anime is proud to present a tremendous film that won critical acclaim all over the world, including the 40th annual Japan Academy Prize for Best Animation, beating out the beloved Your Name. This film we will be showing at the next Anime Nite Orlando will be In this Corner of the World.
In this Corner of the World is directed by Sunao Katabuchi who was an assisstant director on Kiki's Delivery Service and the director of all the Black Lagoon anime. It's a beautifully hand-drawn film with a down-to-earth, insprining story set during World War II.
The award-winning story of In this Corner of the World follows a young lady named Suzu Urano, who in 1944 moves to the small town of Kure in Hiroshima to live with her husband’s family. Suzu’s life is thrown into chaos when her town is bombed during World War II.
Her perseverance and courage underpin this heart-warming and inspirational tale of the everyday challenges faced by the Japanese in the midst of a violent, war-torn country. This beautiful yet poignant tale shows that even in the face of adversity and loss, people can come together and rebuild their lives.
And since it's Valentine's week, we're going to open up with episodes the heartwarming romance anime, My Love Story. Takeo and Rinko will inspire us in our path to finding true love.
In addition to great anime and food, we will also have a prize raffle with some fantastic anime swag to give away! Keep in mind that Anime MST3K is banned at our events, so please be respectful to your fellow anime fan.
Anime Nite Orlando is hosted at at Bikkuri Lounge, located at 1919 E. Colonial Dr. Orlando, FL. This event is free and doors open at 7:30pm! You must be over 18 years of age with a valid I.D. to enter.
Bikkuri Lounge is an anime fan's paradise with the best in Japanese cuisine including sushi and sake, and a full bar with drink specials such as $5-for-2 beers and $4.00 wells until close!
