Wow, I must have been sleeping under a rock to have not noticed this for so long! This is very relevant news considering that we are currently watching Gungrave, which is also a creation of Yasuhiro Nightow. Trigun, like its contemporary Cowboy Bebop, came out in the late 90s in Japan and had a hard time finding a following. Both series came out in America during the early part of the last decade on Cartoon Network's late night block and the popularity of both series surged in America.
Trigun and Cowboy Bebop were both a part of anime gaining huge popularity in the states during that time.
The Trigun television series combined elements of the wild west and science fiction and was a pretty fun show to watch. FUNimation announced at Katsucon that they have acquired the rights to the television series and they will be re-releasing it on DVD and Blu-ray this fall! Trigun: Badlands Rumble has much of the cast and staff returning and will be out in Japanese theaters this April! Let's hope that FUNimation can get this released here as well!
